Redness and swelling may occur and typically resolve within a few days
Palpable nodules that are tender to touch or lumps in the treatment areas may develop in the treated area up to 72 hours following the treatments and typically resolve over several weeks.
Subjects from CUTERA clinical study were advised to gently massage the nodules for 2-5 minutes twice daily.
Blister, crusting, or skin burns. Tenderness, redness, or swelling persists longer than a few days.
Nodules that are tender to touch or lumps in the treatment area last longer than 4 weeks.
These may develop up to 72 hours post-treatment and typically resolve over several weeks.
Frequent urination and/or bowel stimulation may be caused by the procedure.
Tingling/numbness in the areas treated up to a few hours after the procedure
Slight muscle soreness/tenderness 24-72 hours after the procedure
Random muscle contraction after the procedure
Increase in metabolic rate results in feeling hungry more frequently
Burns beneath the electrodes have been reported with the use of

Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 24 hours after your treatment and use a broad spectrum SPF everyday
Wait at least 4-6 hours before washing the area
Avoid sun exposure and reapply SPF every 2-3 hours to avoid the risk of hyperpigmentation
No makeup for 24 hours
Avoid hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, baths, or showers that are too hot or contain chlorine for 24 hours after your treatment
Avoid skin irritants such as retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, and astringents for 5 days after treatment
Use a scent free moisturizer
Change your pillowcase following your treatment
Refrain from getting any other skin treatments in the area for 2 weeks
Acne may temporarily look worse after your first treatment however this will improve after additional treatments.
Avoid exercise for 24 hours
Notify your technician if you have any concerns following your treatment
For best results, complete the full treatment schedule at the intervals recommended by your technician.
POST TREATMENT
Wait at least 4 hours before washing your face, applying soap, cream, or makeup to the treatment area
Avoid sun exposure and use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen to prevent further sun damage
Avoid heat - hot tubs, saunas, etc. for 1-2 days
Avoid skin irritants such as products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin C/ascorbic acid, astringents, etc. for a few days before and after treatment
Burning, redness, swelling, or a grid pattern may occur and resolve with time.
More aggressive treatments or use of irritants in the days before or after treatment can lead to longer downtime.
Multiple treatments are required consult with a clinic about when to resume the skincare regime
Notify the clinic of any concerns (blisters, excessive redness/swelling,
persistent grid pattern, etc.)
Preparation for treatment
Do not wear makeup on the day of treatment
Excess hair may need to be shaved. Men should be cleanly shaved
No sun-tanning or self-tanners 4 weeks prior to treatment
Includes spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning beds, sun exposure, etc.
Avoid skin irritants (examples below) a few days before and after treatment
Products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin C/ascorbic acid, astringents, etc.
Notify clinic with any changes to your health history or medications since your last appointment
History of herpes or cold sores may require an anti-viral prescription prior to treatment
Do not wash your face for at least 6-8 hours post-treatment
Wash and pat dry the skin gently twice day until the crusting naturally exfoliates/sloughs off
Apply a mild/non-fragrant moisturizing cream to the treatment area twice a day for 2 weeks or until the area is fully healed
A visible fine scab or crusting will develop 3 and 5 days after your treatment
Do not remove it forcibly or scratch it
You may feel redness, dryness, swelling, and some pain for 2 to 3 days
Apply sunblock every 3 to 4 hours for a minimum of 2 weeks to a month after your procedure to help prevent UV-induced pigmentation
Do not wear a face masks until the fine scabbing/crusting has exfoliated or sloughed off (up to 5 days)
Avoid skin irritants (examples below) for 7-10 days after treatment
Products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin C/ascorbic acid, astringents, etc.
Avoid sauna and aggressive exercises for 1-2 weeks
Optional to keep your skin cool and moisturized by spraying with cold water during the healing process
Stay hydrated and drink plenty of water
Multiple treatments may be required
